The Terror is an anthology: each season is a stand-alone story with a different cast. Only season one adapts Dan Simmons's 2007 novel The Terror. Season two (Infamy) is an original story with no source novel, and season three (Devil in Silver) adapts a different author's book, Victor LaValle's 2012 novel. So there is a book to read for season one, and a separate, unrelated book for season three, but nothing to read for season two.
