What the show changed here
- ChangedJohn Constantine, who helps Dream in the comic, is replaced by an original character, Johanna Constantine (licensing kept John out).
- ChangedDream is found and nursed by his librarian Lucienne; in the comic he wakes at Cain and Abel's, and Gregory the Gargoyle's arc is cut.
- ChangedThe captor's son Alex Burgess is made a more active, sinister figure than his mostly passive comic version.
- ChangedThe nightmare called the Corinthian is built into a season-long presence, where the comic dispatches him easily. The setting moves to today.

The series adapts the comic in order but combines volumes within each season and makes narrative changes. Season one covers the first two-plus volumes and season two moves into the later ones, so the trades line up fairly cleanly with where each season leaves off.
